Summer Styling

With our highly unreliable weather and currently very lacklustre summer (which will soon be coming to an end), we’ve been on the hunt for fresh interior trends that help inject a hint of summer into our homes. Here are some of our favourite, and easily accessible, trends for a last-minute summer-inspired interior:

Pops of Colour

A simple and very quick way to inject summer into your home is by introducing a statement colour, think citrus colours like orange or yellow, bright blue hues that represent the ocean, or a mix of natural and lush greens for a lush tropical feel.

Tropical Hints

The tropical trend has long been a reliable source of inspiration for summer styling, but it doesn’t always have to mean kitsch and bright. Tropical prints are not always about bright clashing pinks, greens and yellows, this season we’re seeing more subdued prints hitting the shelves, offering a much-needed relaxing alternative. Go for shades of peach teamed with pink, or create a contrasting scheme with blue and white.

Scandi Summer

Scandi style may not scream ‘summer’, with their much more subtle and paler interiors, but it’s their clever use of light that creates a light and bright atmosphere which lasts all year round. The use of white walls creates a large space for light to bounce from, brightening the area, whilst also providing a simple and versatile backdrop. Scale back on accessories for a space that feels open and airy, using natural and rustic textures, such as light woods, leathers and furs, adding an extra dimension to the space whilst still fitting into a light aesthetic.

Summer Reflections

A cleverly placed mirror can do wonders to a space; it opens a smaller space, enhances eye-catching views, adds the perfect styling touch and also brightens the space, which is perfect for creating a light and airy summer atmosphere. Mirrors provide a simple and easy way to create a statement in your home; go for one with a metallic effect for a luxe look, style as a trio to create an interesting and eye-catching wall, or go for practicality and beauty with a mirror complete with jewellery stand or hooks.
