Interior design and lighting

This year there have been great developments in lighting for the home and I have seen some really innovative examples at recent design shows.

Design Centre Chelsea Harbour has come up with some particularly unusual products and I also saw some beautiful Moroccan cut-out metal lamps at Maison D’Objet in Paris earlier in the year. These stunning lamps are available on the high street now and when lit, they create a beautiful patterned light around the room.

With a more urban or industrial style in mind, many fantastic new pendant glass lights have made their way onto the market. Some have very unusual shapes and as an added creative twist, some feature objects inside them. Pendant glass lights are proving to be very popular in commercial applications such as cafés and clothes stores.

I have recently sourced some amazing plaster wall lights shaped like scallop shells. They are half a meter in height and will look incredible in the spa that we are currently working on. The scallop lights will be fitted to a travertine wall and will be adapted for use in a swimming pool, giving a really soft atmospheric light.

Lighting makes a dramatic difference to any interior design project. Whatever the application, home or commercial, large or small, there really is something out there for all taste and budgets.
